Bike Safari Mburo Nationalpark Uganda

Bike Safari at Lake Mburo National Park

A safari is one of the most fascinating activities you can do in Africa’s national parks. Many people dream of experiencing the wild animals and beautiful nature of Africa.

However, a bike safari offers more than the usual safaris in a car. In Lake Mburo National Park, you don’t just get very close to Africa’s flora and fauna – no, on a bike you’re right in the middle of it!

You will experience the savannah at sunset, sunrise and during the day from a completely different perspective without the disturbing noises and smells of an engine. You will be able to observe zebras, giraffes, water buffaloes, a variety of antelopes and birds and many other animals.

We will provide you with a full-suspension safari mountain bike. You will be accompanied by an experienced bike safari guide and a bike ranger, who will ensure your safety at all times explain the flora and fauna to you and take good care of you and your bike.

Lake Mburo National Park is located in western Uganda and is only 370 square metres in size making it the smallest nature reserve in the country. But don’t let that fool you! The park has a lot to offer and for many visitors it is the highlight of their trip to Uganda!

Day 1: Arrival at Lake Mburo National Park and first evening bike safari until sunset

An experienced driver will pick you up at your accommodation together with one of our bike guides. Today’s ride takes us to Mbarara in western Uganda, the gateway to Uganda’s smallest but most animal and bird-rich savannah national park. On the way there, we cross the equator, where we spend our lunch break and can stand on the northem and southern hemispheres of our planet at the same time. We cover the last seven kilometres to the park on our safari bikes to get in the mood for the next tours. After checking into our accommodation, the first tour in the national park is on the programme from late afternoon until sunset. At this time, the animals become more active again and there is a very special atmosphere in the park.

Day 2: Bike safari in the park and relaxation at the lodge

Today we set off early in the morning on our bikes to experience the animals and nature during the active morning hours. This also allows us to avoid the strong midday sun directly on the equator, which drives the animals into the undergrowth. The safari lasts between 2 and 4 hours, depending on how much energy and enthusiasm you have. The focus is clearly on enjoying nature rather than athletic performance. After the safari, we return to our lodge to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch. Experience has shown that this is necessary, but those who still have enough energy and need less relaxation can take part in another bike tour through the surrounding villages in the afternoon, which is not included in the package price.

Life Cyclers on Tour am Wasserfall

Day trips to the Ssezibwa Waterfalls

The Ssezibwa waterfalls are an important cultural site within the kingdom of Buganda. Part of the king’s former palace is now a small museum where you can also learn about the healing powers of numerous plants. The waterfalls are located in a nature reserve on the edge of the famous Mabira rainforest, between the districts of Mukono and Jinja in the eastern centre of Uganda. The area is known for the cultivation of pineapples, sugar cane, coffee and tea. The route there therefore also leads through tea, coffee and sugar cane plantations. The authentic Ugandan villages and the hospitality of the people of this region make this tour an unforgettable experience.
The highlight of the tours is a picnic with fresh fruit at the waterfalls and those who wish can cool off in a natural pool.

The tours start either at the LCU office in Kiyunga or in Jinja.
